Financial Crime Officer
Our ambition is to be the best insurance business in the world and due to our continued growth and investment, we are looking to recruit a Financial Crime Officer to join our growing compliance team.
The Financial Crime Officer will be responsible for supporting the Head of Compliance and the Compliance Team in ensuring Consilium Insurance Brokers and associated Aventum Group companies comply with all relevant financial crime regulations and legislation applicable in the general insurance and reinsurance sector.
This role will suit an individual who is personable and meticulous, comfortable taking ownership and initiative when working independently and alongside the wider business when needed.
The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of the FCA’s handbook, rules, and guidance applicable to (re)insurance, with particular experience working within a reinsurance or Lloyd’s broker.
Be a point of call for the internal and external day to day financial crime queries
Provision of financial crime compliance advice, including regulatory developments, systems/controls, etc.
Advise on frameworks, policies, procedures, processes, and systems to ensure they are fit for purpose.
Lead in the development and enhancement of a sufficiently robust financial crime prevention framework covering issues such as AML, ABC, ATC, anti-fraud, financial sanctions, tax evasion, etc.
Conduct risk assessments of potential economic sanctions associated with new/current financial products and services.
Ensuring effective subject matter expert visibility, understanding, and assessment of the organisation’s financial crime threats, risks, and overall control maturity
Act as subject matter expert for all local/regional sanctions requirements.
Conduct ongoing monitor of the business’s adherence to its financial crime framework.
Provide advice to the business in response to sanctions case referrals (and provide final analyses) for claims and premium processing requests, in line with OFAC, UK, UN, and EU sanctions
Advise on potential risks associated with complex insurance transactions/products or services.
Provision of training on financial crime matters.
At least 3 year’s relevant financial crime compliance experience gained ideally within the (re)insurance or Lloyd’s markets.
Ideally Financial Crime professional qualifications, or willing to study towards.
Expert knowledge of the FCA expectations relating to financial crime, JMLSG guidance and relevant financial crime legislation.
Knowledge of and experience with OFAC, UK, UN and EU sanctions laws and regulations
Experience gained within general insurance or reinsurance a distinct advantage.
Sound knowledge of relevant anti-financial crime laws and regulations such as AML, Sanctions, Terrorist Financing and Bribery & Corruption.
A forward-thinking outlook with the ability to work on their own initiative.
Strong communication skills, ability to engage with and support stakeholders at all levels
Good level of IT literacy particularly in Excel and Word
