Group Financial Controller

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join us here at the Aventum Group. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer this will be a varied and challenging role supporting one of the fastest-growing businesses in the London Market.

The Group Financial Controller is responsible for financial and regulatory control. This leadership position maintains a strong financial control environment for the business, ensuring appropriate accounting policies, the integrity of accounting records, and compliance with all legal, statutory, and tax requirements.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity of the Financial Ledgers and all data sources

  • Management of the monthly close processes and production of management accounts

  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, and maintain Group accounting policies

  • Ownership of statutory returns including VAT, Corp tax, and Statutory accounts preparation

  • Manage the required regulatory reporting with the FCA (including capital adequacy and RMAR returns)

  • Enhance Treasury processes including investment of funds, FX management, and hedging

  • Working capital management and cash flow forecasting

  • Tax Planning

  • Ensure appropriate expense management and authorisation levels

  • Drive continuous improvement of financial controls and procedures

  • Management of the external audit process and audit matters

  • Oversight of legal entity structures across the Group

  • Ownership of matters outsourced to external accountants

  • Project leadership

Education & Qualifications

  • Recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA,)

  • Educated to degree level

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience

  • Experience in financial controllership in the insurance-related sector is preferred

  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels across the business and influence senior management/directors and wider stakeholders

  • Strong planning and organisational skills, as well as excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work on own initiative and to manage own workload against tight deadlines
