As a Hands-On DevOps Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our corporate infrastructure and Azure cloud environment. You will lead a small team of 3-4 DevOps engineers to ensure that our infrastructure, applications, and services are reliable, scalable, and secure. This is a hands-on role that requires a deep understanding of Azure cloud technologies, DevOps best practices, a commitment to the principles of DORA (DevOps Research and Assessment), and infrastructure management expertise.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Lead a team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical expertise. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team.
Azure Cloud Management: Manage, configure, and optimize our Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Infrastructure as Code: Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code practices, using tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment: Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate application deployments, with a focus on reliability, speed, and quality, adhering to the principles of DORA.
Monitoring and Alerting: Set up comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively detect and address issues. Ensure the team can respond quickly to incidents while monitoring key DORA metrics such as lead time, deployment frequency, and MTTR (Mean Time to Recover).
Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring that our Azure environment is compliant with industry standards and company policies while maintaining a strong focus on security as a part of the DORA model.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the configuration, optimization, and management of network, storage, and compute resources in the Azure cloud, ensuring performance, availability, and scalability.
Capacity Planning: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and forecast resource requirements, ensuring the infrastructure can support the growth and needs of the organization.
Cost Management: Monitor and control infrastructure costs, optimizing resource utilization and recommending cost-saving measures where necessary.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, processes, and best practices for the team, by the DORA practice of Knowledge Sharing.
Vendor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with Azure vendors and stay up to date with the latest Azure cloud technologies and offerings, following the DORA model of continuous learning.
