Ascend: A New Way to Learn, Build and Progress
A key milestone in the past year was the launch of Ascend, a fully upgraded learning platform that significantly improved how our people access development resources.
We moved on from our old system as Ascend introduced something more user-friendly and engaging. Now, learning comes in all sorts of multimedia formats to suit different preferences. We kicked things off with over 500 pieces of content and have already expanded that to more than 750 as the platform is continuously evolving month by month.
Early Careers and Real Progression Opportunities
We have also strengthened our early careers offering, expanding apprenticeships, internships and work experience opportunities to create more entry points into the business. Alongside this, a mentoring approach has helped ensure those starting their careers have access to guidance, support and a strong network as they develop.
Our focus on career progression has continued through the expansion of our talent programmes, which now include three distinct pathways. New cohorts launched in April, giving more employees access to structured development opportunities. This has been complemented by a strong professional development offering, including support for professional qualifications and ongoing review of our essential learning provision to ensure content remains relevant, impactful and accessible in the time available.
To further support individual growth, we have introduced a coaching offering, providing access to one-to-one coaching focused on building confidence and supporting career aspirations.
At a team level, Insights Discovery has been embedded to support collaboration and understanding, helping to create more effective, supportive and high-performing environments.
Learning That Fits the Way We Work
We have also broadened the way learning is delivered to reflect different needs and preferences. Our offering now includes a growing range of upskilling apprenticeships with strong internal uptake, covering subjects such as leadership, AI, marketing and more.
In addition, our Management Essentials and Personal Effectiveness programmes are available both in person and virtually, making it easier than ever to grow and develop. Our bite-sized learning sessions continue to be a hit, offering quick yet impactful insights on crucial topics including AI, Outlook, feedback and objective setting.
As we look ahead, we have exciting plans, including further enhancements to Ascend, career paths, skills mentoring, social learning and more, because the standard today will not be the standard tomorrow.
All of our plans will continue to enhance our offering and build on this momentum, helping us to maintain and further strengthen our position as a great place to develop.
