What’s the craziest thing you’d do for something you believe in? Run a marathon? Climb a mountain? Or… maybe throw yourself out of a plane at 10,000ft?
This summer, 40 colleagues from across Aventum Group did exactly that. They suited up, strapped in and stepped not only out of a plane, but far outside their comfort zones, to raise money for two causes that mean the world to us: Race Against Dementia and Worldwide Cancer Research.
Why We Jumped
Almost all of us have felt the impact of dementia or cancer in some way. They are diagnoses that rewrite futures, rob people of time and too often strip away hope. Supporting these charities means helping fund the groundbreaking research that pushes the boundaries of what is possible.
Our goal was bold: to raise £20,000. But our people delivered. Collectively, they raised an amazing £20,655, with Aventum Group adding a further £2,500 for each charity.
Race Against Dementia
Founded by Formula 1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart to fund pioneering dementia research, their mission is urgent; to bring the same pace and innovation of F1 into the race to find preventions, treatments and ultimately a cure for dementia.
Worldwide Cancer Research
A UK-based charity funding discovery research globally, this charity backs the very first steps of bold new ideas, lighting the way for tomorrow’s life-saving treatments.
Weather vs. Willpower
As with any good story, there was a twist. Everything was set, adrenaline was high, and then the classic British summer weather had other plans. Clouds gathered, winds picked up and the jumps were grounded. But if there’s one thing we know at Aventum, it’s resilience. New dates were set and, on Thursday, 14 August and Tuesday, 9 September, our colleagues finally took to the skies in two smaller groups.
For some, the freefall was exhilarating, for others, utterly terrifying. But every single jumper touched down (albeit maybe a little shaky), united by the knowledge that they had done something extraordinary - not just for themselves, but for countless others.
Dare to Dive was about more than raising money for two charities. It was about showing what happens when courage, community and cause collide. It was about stepping up (and out) together. It was about proving that when we dare to do something bigger than ourselves, the impact is immense.
To everyone who jumped, donated and cheered us on: thank you. Together, we turned fear into flight and raised money that will help rewrite futures.
